Game Summary

Tournament MVP Jonny Reibel led all scorers with 25 points to lead 4th ranked Rollins in a wild 85-83 win over 13th ranked University of South Carolina Aiken in the championship game of the 33rd Annual Winter Park Rotary Tangerine Tournament on Sunday. The Tars win their 13th Tangerine Tournament title to remain a perfect 10-0 on the season, while USC Aiken falls to 9-1.
Five Tars notched points in double-digits with Reibel leading the charge with 25 points and five assists, going 7-13 from the floor, 5-8 from long range and 6-9 from the charity stripe. Guard Jeremy Sharpe added 17 points and Nick Wolf chipped in 15, going 6-6 from the free throw line.
All-Tournament Team member Craig Reichel tallied a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards. Kevin Hogan rounded out the scoring effort for the Tars posting 10 points going 3-4 from the field, 2-3 from three point range and 2-3 from the charity stripe.
USC Aiken topped the Tars in points in the paint 20-16, points off of turnovers 17-10, fast break points 4-2 and bench points 22-19.
The Tars started off slow as they were unable to regain the lead until 14:32 left in the first half, 13-11. The Pacers fought back to reclaim the lead with a three pointer by Casey McMasters, 15-17. Rollins would only have the advantage once more in the half at the 7:51 mark with Wolf banking in two free throws, 28-27. From that point on, USC Aiken would take the lead at the end of the first half, 41-37.
Coming out of the locker room at the half, the Tars would once again remain in the deficit until a three point bucket by Wolf at the 13:41 mark, 52-49. Reibel then gained steam notching five three pointers in the second period. With nine seconds left in the game and the Pacers only down one, USC Aiken fouled Wolf sending him to the line for the sixth time.
With the Tars up by three, 83-80, Ryan Ferranti fouled Jeremy Fears where he made a pair of baskets, 83-82. Two free throws by Jeremy Sharpe put the Tars up by three again, 85-82. Fears then made 1-2 free throws to end the game in favor of the Tars 85-83.
Members of the All-Tournament Team included MVP Reibel, Reichel, Commons, Casimir, Flagler’s Ben De La Cruz and Columbia Union’s Maurice Stallion.
The 9-1 Pacers were led by Chris Commons who totaled 22 points and eight rebounds while Fears added 16 points. Cordaryl Ballard and Job Casimir each chipped in 14 points for USC Aiken.
Rollins (10-0) will be back in action when they open their conference season by playing host to the University of Tampa Spartans (7-2) on Wednesday, January 2 at 7:30 p.m. Fans can watch and listen to the action live at www.RollinsSports.tv.
